I fell in love with this prehistoric world developed by jean M. Auel, I had read the first three books with about ten years between each one, and now I see I have another two to catch up with! I adored the character development and her in depth and intelligent explanations of early human life. It was an excellent book for me to have read when I read it, each novel had something pertaining to my life in that moment, and I finished each book newly in love with human beings and all their marvellous [...]

I have never read anything like these books. They let me climb into this era and feel its reality; sex, childbirth, daily struggle. Auel took us back in time with the feeling that she had lived there herself. I didn't just read her books, I experienced them.

If you take up this series, these are the only three books that you need to read in it. DON'T BOTHER READING THE REST!! They're garbage. I started the series a loooong time ago. As years went by, you could tell by the ever increasing length of time between title releases and the decline in the quality of plot and dialog that the author didn't want to write the series anymore. I don't know if she got tied into a contract or what, but you could tell that her heart wasn't in it anymore. Spoiler: th [...]

Puur nachtlectuur dus. Maar best aangenaam. Het eerste boek (stam van de hol [...]

This is a very compelling series to read. It grabs you and pulls you in immediately. One of the reviews states something like "You suffer a moment of displacement when you are whisked 2500 years away from the time of Ayla" I'm afraid it's very true.I read all 3 over a weekend, when I bought them. I began "Clan" Friday at 3:00 and finished "Mammoth" Monday at 3:00 AM. Being a reader, this wasn't a difficult thing to do. I was amazed at how terrifically written they were. I had, prior to reading th [...]

Another hit!!! Valley of Horses brought Ayla to a new land and new friends. Friends that have never been friends to Clan. Ayla has a huge heart of compassion and an incredible will to survive. She survives very well and saves other lives in the processgood read!

I have read the entire 5 book series. The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Jorses, The Mamoth Hunters, The Plains of Passage, and The Shelters of Stone. Very entertaining!

Enjoying the series, fell off in a few places to read other things but overall a very unique and engaging story

Loved the series until towards the end when the descriptive phrases got too repetitive

I liked this book when I read it. It did a very good job of getting you to understand the way the characters are thinking. It was one that I picked up and read in a day or two.

    Great continuation of the story!

As a historical read, it was very educational. As entertainment, it was really good.

I'm really enjoying the story line of the people, but tend to skim over a lot of the scenery and plant descriptions.

Plutôt longue série dans un décor bien différent (la préhistoire) mais tout à fait plausible et bien recherché. Une belle aventure.
