Spot is going to the circus and unbeknown to him he will have a great adventure while searching for his ball while there. Spot’s visit to the circus is unplanned, it occurs after his mum throws his ball into the circus and tells him to fetch it. Spot spends the rest of the story going on an adventure searching for his ball, bumping into a clown, elephant, tiger, kangaroo amongst other animals. Eventually he finds his ball with a seal that teaches him to balance it on his nose. The short senten [...]

Spot the dog goes to a circus to find his ball. In this story, the puppy mistook it for the clown's nose, the elephant's balloons, or the bareback rider's ball. He continues his search until he finds it balanced on the end of a seal's nose. As a funny ending, Spot learnt how to balance his ball. This book has "lift-the-flat" section on each page, which reveals the direction of the ball. Flats provide a lot of opportunities for teachers to ask predictive questions, such as "what do you think the [...]

It’s just a masterclass in flap-books. The illustrations are rewardingly colourful without hurting the eyes (I find a muted red in an otherwise bright palate makes a world of difference), and the letters are printed large enough to enjoy this book with letter-spotting pre-readers. Ten short sentences makes this a proper story in which letter-spotters are welcome, which is rare. Also seek out SPOT’S FIRST CHRISTMAS, which is more of the same, with a slightly more developed sense of Spot’s c [...]

This book was a huge favourite of mine. I wanted to get a dog after reading it. I used to have ALL of these books and I read them a lot because I liked the pictures. When it became an animated thing, I lved it so much! I had the VHSs and watched them everyday. I don't know when I stopped or when I grew up from it, but this series has completely escaped my memory until just recently when I read the book: "1001 Children's Books you must read before you grow up". I am glad to have had this in my li [...]

A wonderful read from my childhood, one I’d certainly suggest for other youngsters. Whilst it is not my all-time favourite childhood read I can still recall all the details of this one meaning it certainly left a lasting impression upon my young mind. And isn’t that what we want with children’s books, for them to leave a positive lasting impression?

Easy to read and beginning readers book #5This book was about a dog who has to fetch his ball. He follows it all around the circus until the seal has it and teaches spot a trick. It was a beginner book because there wasn't a ton of words and the story line was easy to follow.

Common with Hill 's Spot books, the pictures "flip open" to find some kind of surprise inside, making it inviting for infants and toddlers by showing that books and reading can be fun and by stimulating a child's curiosity.

    Best book ever :)

Who doesn't love Spot? This was a favourite of mine in preschool, a time I devoted to sitting in the corner and reading. That green building was always incredibly intriguing to me.

    Fun and interactive kids book

Love the "Spot" books - they were my favourite childhood books

Spot goes behind the scenes at a circus to find his ball and learns a clever trick. Movable flaps conceal portions of the illustrations.
