What an awesome book! What I loved most about this book was that it wasn't written by or for a perky 25-year-old divorcing & starting over. It was written by & intended for someone more like me, a sad, lost 44 year old (I won't specify whether that describes me or the author *sigh*). As a voracious reader, I'd read many, many self-help divorce books by the time I found this one, & I'd been alone for over 6 months. I really thought I was past learning or really needing help, yet I fou [...]

Decent book that shows you that your life will go on but you will be poorer in the pocketbook unless you protect yourself and look at the ending of your marriage like a business. In other words: act like a lady but think like a BOSS. Men don't play nice so don't let yourself get sucked into feeling sorry for your soon to be ex! Get an attorney and fight for what is yours.

Easy to read. Manfred gives information about grief in the first year, reconciliation strategies (if that's the route you and your spouse decide to go), the divorce process (attorneys), reinventing yourself, internet dating, forgiveness. Really, I didn't find anything in this book that I haven't read in others. The only thing I found interesting was her advice on internet dating. It made me less afraid to try that if I'm ever ready.A better read, if you're really in your first steps of grief rec [...]

Erica gives some good advice about dealing with and moving on from divorce. This book is mostly focused on those of us who were betrayed and left for other, typically younger women. At the end of most chapters she also addresses women in their 40's, 50's and 60's since there are various needs. She references a lot of other books that can be helpful as you move on. I love that she allows us to not forgive until you are ready to. She knows how we feel and that it is possible to move on without for [...]

I liked parts of the book, but I think the author is a horrible woman. I mean what kind of person has affairs with married men and doesn't even care when the wife commits SUICIDE??!! She mentions this little episode almost as an aside!!! Heinous! Just an okay writer with an annoying attachment to the words, "girlfriend" and "ebullient." Any woman who has thoughtlessly has affairs with married men is NOT my girlfriend.

I highly recommend this book. I read it over a year ago when in the thick of things and then again after the dust has settled. Very helpful.

Great book, just what I needed to hear at this point in time. It's inspiring to look forward with hope.

Having earned my battle scars from the male point of view of two divorces and finding myself single in my 50s, I found this book very helpful to enable me to take a look at myself and also help me understand who my next date might be. Compassion and understanding are very helpful during these times. I actually think there are stages to dating again, like mourning. Cluelessness-you haven’t done this in 20+ years; Euphoria-that first good date and you’re in love again; Herewegoagainness-oops I [...]
