New seasons always bring new challenges and new trials, and the school of contentment is always awaiting us. I am grateful for solid books like this one that remind us of His promises, our hope in Christ, and our calling.

I read this in one day and will reread it. Not just for the wife. I found my wife's copy and saw myself as I read Nancy 's clear writing about contentment. Very very good, gentlemen.

The cover on this book was the first thing to draw me. The chapters are short (less then 5 minutes to read). There is also questions at the end of each chapter. This would make an excellent book for a mentoring relationship as well as personal devotions.I read this on #kindleunlimited.Quotes:“We often think contentment is something that happens to us, rather than something that we take pains to learn.” “The more we hear ourselves grumble and complain, the more we take it to heart and belie [...]

Exceptional. If I could, I'd give it 10 stars. The book is relatively short so I don't feel I need to offer too much in way of review. In regards to style, I very much appreciate Mrs. Wilson's minimal use of personal examples. She kept the book focused on the ideas and Scripture. She told only one story (which was about her marriage - an anecdote I found especially beneficial), and only made one brief reference to a woman she knew. I have often found the examples given in books such as this to be [...]

I read this one cover to cover in an hour before handing it to my daughter that she might be blessed in reading it as I have.

*I accidentally deleted what I thought was a duplicate reviewwhen it was the only review, so now I have to try and remember what I said.* :) Up until recently, I had very inconsistent views on being "stressed out". I knew it was not good, but I didn't think of it in terms of what is said about my relationship with God. God introduced Nancy's husband, Doug Wilson to me a few years ago through his work in the classical education movement, and this year God has introduced me to the rest of his fami [...]

This is a great introduction to the importance of learning contentment. It's a short 100 pages and mainly skims over the biblical texts and ideas surrounding the importance of the virtue of contentment in the Christian life. At times it longs for more fleshing out of the ideas presented. However, as it was written in book-study guide style, I presumed when reading the the ideas were meant to be fleshed out in group discussion. There were a few places, especially right at the beginning, I felt th [...]

This was such an encouraging and convicting read! Nancy Wilson brings out Scripture to meditate on and thought provoking questions that stick with you. I need to reread this each year to keep things fresh in my mind. This idea of contentment goes against what modern society tells us to do. It's the "in" thing to embrace your troubles and always look for ways to get them out and let people know in a self pity kind of way. What a more joyful and Godly life when you give it to Him and thing more et [...]

I find that I am in a constant struggle with contentment (who isn't right?). I am always looking forward to "what's next" and frequently find my heart envious of others who are in that "next" category. Nancy not only writes beautifully and succinctly, this little book is laced with pertinent Biblical Truth. I highly recommend this book for ladies of any age.
