Here we have all of Tolkien's beloved stories in one set. From the very beginnings of Middle Earth, to it's New Era of Man. These are all wonderful reads and I highly recommend them, however, they are not for those who like things light. They are serious books with a grand agenda and huge adventures. They are one and all favourites of mine and although it takes more than a day or two to read even one of these beautiful books, they are each and every one well worth your time and your effort.

Epic series. One ought to read them all! even though the Silmarillion and Hurin books are not as fun to read as the others, they really do provide a in-depth look at the story world that Tolkien created with Middle Earth.

I don't have this edition but I own all of these books-several times over. I used to read The Hobbit and LotR once a year--back in the day when I had time for such things. What great epic fantasy!SherryT

The silmarillion is a comlete bible of middle earth. A great fantasy that often seems real.

The Children of Hurin was a sad tale of Turumbar/Turin and all his hardships by a curse he though was put on his family. Despite its sadness I was caught up in the story. The battle scenes described kept my attention, I couldn't put it down.
