Dark Watcher 2015 is the new edited version of one of Ms Saintcrow's earlier works. I read it years ago, and was curious to see what she had done differently this second time.I didn't want to read the two versions along, as I wanted to enjoy the story fully. So I won't be able to tell you how or if the 2015 version is different. I do have the feeling this latest version is smoother, though. :) Still, Dark Watcher is Saintcrow-light.If you are one of her fans, you know how complex and nuanced her [...]

First read August 19, 2011.First in the urban-fantasy series, Watcher, revolving around four witches with a share in an occult shop.My TakeI like the concept and I like Dante and Theo. I just wish Saintcrow had put some depth, passion, and tension into the story. And, no, Theo whining is not the passion or tension to which I'm referring. The last battle at the shop, Dante has gone out to fight the monsters while Hanson gets the women to safety. And Theo is whining. Again. Whimper, whimper, whine [...]

I am definitely in the minority in loving this book, and I admit that I am biased. I love Lilith Saintcrow! I fell in love after her characters after reading Dante Valentine: The Complete Series. With her, you always know that her characters will always be devoted to one another no matter what hurdle is thrown their way. It's sweet watching them interact, and such a relief after reading novels with mediocre character figures. I love her UF settings as well. It is always unique and she develops a [...]

Dark Watcher by Lilith Saintcrow is the first book of the Watcher Series. The story comes to an ending per say, there are no cliffhangers, but things are left open for the next installment. In a modern world where witches are hunted, the watchers are their guardians. Theo is a rare witch called a Lightbringer. Unfortunately for Theo, her ability brings unwanted attention from mean ugly things that are meant to hunt her down. Enter Dante. Dante's sole purpose in life is to watch over witches. He [...]

I thought this was a pretty interesting read, it sorta reminded me of a mash up of The Hollows meets the Black Dagger Brotherhood, but ixnay on the vampires. I really liked the fact that Theo was more fun and caring, while Dante was more in charge. Usually Saintcrow's heroines are more on the tougher side, this was a nice change-up. I also thought the singing and talking to herself was kinda funny, it helped break up some of the more serious parts. The story itself was very intriguing, because n [...]

Another case of reading an author I like only to be disappointed. If I'd started with this series I wouldn't have found the much better JILL Kismet series.

High magic trained or untrained will attract the dark side. For those who liked the show, Charmed, this story is for you. Theodora is a witch with a little bit of training. She is happy with her little shop and her few close friends. Always on the move, this witchy gypsy finally finds a place where she may want to settle down and grow some roots. The problem is, her constant move is what help protect her from the evil Crusade, determined to suck her powers dry.Fortunately for her, she does have [...]

Theodora Morgan’s healing abilities has brought her to the attention of the Crusade and the Dark, fortunately the Watcher Dante shows up to protect her but he smells like the same Darkness Theo has been running from all her life in this mesmerizing paranormal fantasy romance.Dante is sworn to protect Lightbringers and his next assignment is Theo only she doesn’t know that she’s surrounded by enemies and the reader can’t help but get caught up in all the intrigue and excitement as Dante h [...]

I read the Watcher series before I was posting reviews. Since the series is being released on Kindle, I thought this would be the perfect time to reread and review the books. Luckily, my library has all of them.Saintcrow's Santiago City teases me with glimpses of half-remembered places from Jill Kismet's city. I found the Watcher books when I looked for something to read while waiting for another Kismet book. At its heart, this series is about good fighting evil, and good sometimes does evil to [...]

While at times I think the Witches act irrationally & unreasonably -- it is totally true to how they are presented -- so much of the light they just have problems comprehending the violence capable by the Dark things they attract. Interesting premise & I am glad she continued with 4 more books.Last logged: Jan 19/2013

Today’s post is on Dark Watcher by Lilith Saintcrow. It is 178 pages long and is published by Imajinn Books. It is first in her Watcher series. The cover has a storm in the back ground and the main male character looking over his shoulder towards the reader. The intended reader is someone who likes urban fantasy, very mild romance, and high action. There is foul language, no sex, and violence in this short story. The story is told from third person close of the characters moving from one to th [...]

Are there multiple people writing under the pen name Lilith Saintcrow? Because I've read a few other series by her and this is nothing like them, and I don't mean that in a good way. This is utterly terrible. An annoying female protagonist and an annoying male who is inexplicably in love with her, basically at first sight? Check.Writing that is super shallow? Check.A full cast of one dimensional characters? Check.World building that is functionally non-existent? Check.Lame names like The Crusade [...]

Despite being so short, this was still a surprisingly good and entertaining read. While the writing wasn't quite as good here as in some Of Saintcrow's other books, it was still easy easy enough to follow so I can't complain to much. I would recommend this to anyone who is a big Saintcrow fan, if you haven't read anything by Lilith Saintcrow then I suggest you start with one of her other books rather than this one.

Easy fantasy romance I give this book 5 stars as its easy reading and ticks all my easy reading points. Also love the easy Wicca ways of these books. Good charactersGood and evil with a magical twistEasy soul love and redemption. There's no teen angst just clear story. If your looking for an intense long haul book there's plenty others out there. If you want easy reading and more books to come definitely give these books ago.

I rather enjoy these type of stories. They're fun reads and action packed. I love that Theodora is called Theo, and that she just lives her life and a spark of joy comes to find her in the madness of bewitched world. Thank you.

I always enjoy Saintcrow's work, so I'm a bit biased here. However, I adored that Theo and the other ladies could damn well take care of themselves, although we didn't see enough of it before Dante and Hanson stepped in to protect them. That being said, the men did a lot of taking care of unseen threats, while the women did preventative work that mattered.I appreciate Dante being so beta regarding what Theo wanted, but a bad-ass killing machine when necessary. Their interactions were fun to see, [...]

4.5 stars from Books That HookI received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Dark Watcher is the first book in the Watcher series by Lilith Saintcrow. The basic storyline is Dante, a Watcher, has been assigned to protect Theo, a witch, from Crusaders and other forms of darkness. He hopes to convince her to join a circle of Lightbringers like herself. He also finds out she is the one witch [...]

Pretty good. I prefer series built around the same main characters versus building off other characters.

I stumbled upon Lilith Saintcrow's Watcher series by accident. I had been on and she was a recommended author by several Listmania! writers. Well, I got Dark Watcher from the library and was hooked. The book is part urban fantasy, part paranormal romance.Dante is a Watcher. He has been sent by Circle Lightfall to "watch-over" a Lightbringer (woman who practices magic - witch) so that the Dark (represented by several nasty factions) will not harm her. He carries not only two specialized guns, bu [...]

I was looking for a good new paranormal book and found this one. It sounded intriguing so I was excited to read it. This book is apparently a revised edition of a book that came out years ago. I haven't read the first edition. This edition I thought was good. I have only read her Strange Angel novels, which I loved. They are YA though so I was interested to read one of her adult novels. This book was a very light romance. By that I mainly mean there is only about two kissing scenes so its a clea [...]

This was a bit of a bubblegum read, but was OK for killing time on a plane ride. I really liked her Dante Valentine series, so I thought I’d give some of her earlier works a try. This novel(ella) wasn’t nearly as interesting. The characters and their universe weren’t very well fleshed out, although I understand that there are other books in the series that might expand upon them.My main problem was that I was really irritated with the character of Theo, the witch that is one of the two “ [...]

I've read several of Ms Saintcrow's books and this one was a new series to me. Theo runs a magic shop with several other women and they have a small coven together. Theo cares about everyone she meets and tries to help them. Drunks and addicts are not turned away and she uses her magic to help and heal them even if it wears her out. Dante and another watcher have come to town on information that Theo is slated for execution by the Crusade. The watchers are part of a larger witch group called Cir [...]

I haven't read a book by Lilith Saintcrow that I haven't liked, and Dark Watcher proved to be another amazing read by this author. In Dark Watcher, Saintcrow has created a new world full of magic and the paranormal with Light and Dark as well as action/adventure and even some romance. Theo and Dante are the book's main couple although they are surrounded by some great secondary characters in Theo's friends and Dante's fellow Watcher. Both Theo and Dante are well developed throughout the book and [...]

HmmI'm not sure what happened here. I loved "The Demon's Librarian" by Lilith Saintcrow but could barely stand continue reading "Dark Watcher." I think it was the women who annoyed me the most. The picture Saintcrow paints for me is one of aging and wannabe hippies wearing maxi-skirts, Birkenstocks and patchouli perfume and trying to be mysterious/spiritual while "goddessing" their language non-stop. The women in the book actually have real power, but that's the image I was stuck with. Also, eac [...]

This was a different read for me I think it was a good different. I loved the protectiveness that Dante had, "take it easy. You put yourself almost into shock, little witch," he said. "You should drink more of this, and eat something." Dante at first seemed strange to me I mean who wouldn't want a gorgeous woman touching you, "not exactly," he said. "You're my witch. I wouldn't call it pain, coming from you. But it's distracting, and it's my habit to avoid touching a Lightbringer." He's declarat [...]

Thoughts: Dark Watcher kicks of a strong sci-fi/fantasy series that for me was a little reminiscent of the television series of Charmed – it sort of had that feel or vibe to it. If you enjoyed that show, I have a feeling this series will be right up your alley. Don’t get me wrong, this series certainly stands on it’s own – but it sort of has that same feel to it.I really enjoyed the character of Theo – she’s strong in a subtle way, with a big caring heart that never knows when to sto [...]

I have read some of Lilith Saintcrow's books before and I do find them to drag a bit for me. They are usually interesting books just somethings bug me a bit or drag on distracting me from the book. This one was a lot better and I know i will want to read the rest of the stories. Theo is a witch, a powerful one at that. Dante is a watcher and one of the best. For years he's been sent to watch over ligtbringers and bring them into the Circle. He hasn't lost one yet and doesn't plan to start soon. [...]

Quite a few of my friends really like Lilith Saintcrow, and while I've read one series of hers (Jill Kismet) and am now starting another with this book I really can't see the fascination yet. They are interesting, yes - but there are some quirks that annoy me.First, she constantly has her characters talking to themselves in italics. It comes off as corny, and annoying. I don't want to know all the goofy things the characters are thinking. I want the characters to be rich in their actions and spo [...]
