Ellie's job in television news is not nearly as exciting as she had hoped. Covering fundraisers and meetings is not really giving her a chance to show off her journalism skills. Then one night, she lucks into a juicy murder case. A young woman has been strangled in her apartment. The list of suspects is long - a decades-older sugar daddy, her married lover, her married lover's jealous wife, an unhappy friend, her drug dealer and a burglar. Or was it someone else? This one kept me guessing right t [...]

Sue Anne Cavanaugh (25, HS) & her current B/F Howard Howie Margolin had just moved into Westshore Lake Apartments (WLA).Mr. Holling (WLA Manager) had found her strangled to death.Several of the WLA & former HS classmates were interviewed.Sergeant McDaniel (P/D) & Detective Bieterman (P/D) & Detective Morrison (P/D) were doing follow-ups.Ellie Schimmel (WB/TV news reporter) was trying to get some leads for a story on the Sue Anne homicide also. Shirley Nardo was murdered also. Ell [...]

In "Murder on the Night Shift", budding TV reporter Ellie Schimmel is working her typical overnight shift, when she hears about a young woman's strangulation over the police scanner. She manages to become the first journalist on the scene and uses that to talk her boss into assigning her to the story, to the consternation of the station's normally assigned reporter. As Ellie investigates, she meets the cast of characters and decides eventually to share her discoveries with the police detective h [...]

"Murder on the Night Shift" is a mystery solved by someone other than the police. A usual recipe for mysteries, author Kathy Cohen's successful sleuth, a budding television reporter, is much more credible than most. Ellie Schimmel happens to be in the right place at the right time, setting the novel in motion.Cohen's novel starts logically, progresses naturally and tells its story without making the lead character its primary focus. Ellie pursues her investigation like a journalist, without tryi [...]

Elie was a reporter onthe night shift but she wasn't happy about her rather boring job. One night a murder occurs and she is able to arrive on the scene before any other reporter.Given this opportunity by chance she was determined to make the most of it.Many suspects with valid motivations were uprooted until she finally is able to see her investigations bear fruit. easy reading though at times a bit wordy.

I stayed up all night to finish this book. I was in suspense to find out who did it, and I had no idea who it was until the murderer was revealed toward the end. I thought it was very well written and I loved the main character. I hope there will be a sequel.

Night ShiftThis one was mediocre, at best! The story was alright but not that interesting. The plot was a little thin and not that mysterious. All in all, just okay!
