There is little I can say about this book it speaks for itself. The title of the book says, "If Only There Was Music" well, it makes its own music, and does so beautifully. It needs no instruments, as it has its own rhythm and percussion. I had read right through to the end before I even knew it. But I did know how it left me feeling. I noticed the goosebumps on my arms, and the hairs raised at the nape of my neck. I didn't read this book I felt it. Even if you think you don't have a romantic [...]

I've not read "If Only There Was Music " in one sitting and the first part of the book, "Through HER eyes" written by Nonnie Jules is especially fabulous to read. I've read some of the poems many times and I'm always enthralled by the depth of emotion displayed via the words the poets use. To write successfully about a painful experience such as unrequited love is quite an achievement. At the same time there are also poems which extol love for what it is - a wonderful thing between a man and a w [...]

A forbidden dance spelled out in words that spill emotion across the pages. These words become real, palpable, designed to yank the reader into the very world in which the two participants live. "If Only There Was Music" is a poetic back and forth between individuals who find themselves entangled in feelings that, on the surface, should not exist, should not even be considered. But here they are, drawn to one another when they should not be. It's a situation in which many have found themselves. [...]

A moving and sensual collection of poetry told from feminine and masculine POVs, this is a treasure that speaks to and from the heart. Forbidden love is a key element here, but the language of the collection is universally romantic. Truly, I could see many of these pieces being set to music. The two POVs are original, providing a unique slant to the poems. Although I don’t read a great deal of poetry, I love wallowing in verse that touches the heart and soul as these do. Lovely.

To begin with, I am not a poetry aficionado. From the time I was a young girl, in school, and was made to memorize verses like “What is Life if full of Care” by W.H. Davies. Believe me, I had to look this up to remember who wrote it, but that line stuck in my head for years. I never understood the language of poetry, especially the classics, vague and empty is how I would describe them, empty spaces to be filled in, and I could never fill them in, so they remained vague and incomprehensible [...]

ByKAREN INGALLSon February 26, 2016Verified PurchaseI do love poetry so I was excited to read this book. And since my husband and I met and fell in love while still married to others, forbidden love fit for me. Except it was not really forbiddeny in the eyes of society. Thirty years later we are still deeply in love. The poems through HER eyes truly spoke to me. I liked the rhythm and music of them more than those through HIS eyes. Some of my favorites were "If That's Wrong," "This Is It," and "If [...]

A sensuous book full of poetry written from the perspective of two people who are in love and married, but not to each other. The first half of the book is written through her eyes and the second though his eyes. Each verse is an eruption of emotion that entices you to read on.The poetry takes you on a journey of forbidden love and you feel the anguish that the lovers endure from being apart. Well worth a read.

"If Only There Was Music" is an elegant collaboration of poetry by Nonnie Jules and Giani Jordan. Through the art of poetry they have captured the intensity of forbidden love in its purest form. The hearts primal desire to feel adored, desired, and loved is portrayed beautifully in this enduring delicate dance of true confessions of the heart. A must read for sure. An absolute gem!

Lovely insights into hearts and minds of those who love. I felt physical pain as I read several of the poems. A collection you want to read slowly.
