Kim Boykin was raised in her South Carolina home with two girly sisters and great parents She had a happy, boring childhood, which sucks if you re a writer because you have to create your own crazy PLUS after you re published and you re being interviewed, it s very appealing when the author actually lived in Crazy Town or somewhere in the general vicinity.Almost everything she learned about writing, she learned from her grandpa, an oral storyteller, who was a master teacher of pacing and sensory detail He held court under an old mimosa tree on the family farm, and people used to come from all around to hear him tell stories about growing up in rural Georgia and share his unique take on the world. As a stay at home mom, Kim started writing, grabbing snip its of time in the car rider line or on the bleachers at swim practice After her kids left the nest, she started submitting her work, sold her first novel at 53, and has been writing like crazy ever since. Thanks to the lessons she learned under that mimosa tree, her books are well reviewed and, according to RT Book Reviews, feel like they re being told across a kitchen table She is the author of A Peach of a Pair 8 4 2015 , Palmetto Moon and The Wisdom of Hair from Berkley Penguin Caught Up In You, Steal Me, Cowboy,Just in Time for Christmas, Sweet Home Carolina, Flirting with Forever, and She s the One from Tule While her heart is always in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, she lives in Charlotte and has a heart for hairstylists, librarians, and book junkies like herself.

This is such a beautiful story that I had to give it 5 stars. Set in 1953, Nettie Gilbert thought she had her life all figured out while still in college. Then suddenly, she gets a letter that forever changes her life. Nettie then takes a job helping two elderly sisters. It turns out, she needs them just as much as they need her. The sisters are like night and day but Nettie grows to love them both. This is one of those books that will have you shedding a few tears along the way and falling in l [...]

Aw, that was pretty cute! - was slow at first- loved the mystery/secrets- quite quirky characters that you grow fond off- It was like I was back in 1950s. Full review to come in November! Http://Princessicakofbooks.wordpress

I loved this book! Nettie was wonderful. When I learned what the story of the Eldridge sisters is by the end of the book I saw the parallels between them and Nettie. I figured that is what it would be and I was not disappointed. The story and these characters are enthralling. I hated putting the book down to work or get off the bus. I liked that Nettie had a back bone when she finally goes home. She did not allow anyone to walk over her. I also liked that for the short time she had known Remy in [...]

Sisters. A girl's first best friend in life. A bond no one can break. Or so thought Nettie Gilbert, before her own sister broke her heart and stole her fiancée away. She runs from her heartbreak, taking up a job with another set of sisters, helping to care for them. Miss Emily and Miss Lurleen have their own share of secrets and heartbreak between them, ones that need to be sorted before the inevitable happens. Kim Boykin delves into the crazy world that is sisterhood beautifully. She made me y [...]

This book was very easy to read and had more heart than I expected. It also did not drag out the story like I had previously thought. I was impressed with the journey of this story and couldn't put it down.

This is a beautiful and touching story set in the 1950s South. It takes on the bond of sisterhood betrayed; but the road to forgiveness brings forth peace and strength. There's an adventure, lessons from the past, and the power of grace allowing one to open her heart to love again. Ms. Boykin has really grown as a writer and this is her most compelling and strongest story, yet. I highly recommend this book!I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is such a delightful and charming book that made me shed a few tears but also had me laughing out loud. I adored Emily and Lurleen, two feisty old-maid sisters, and Nettie, a heartbroken college girl who becomes their live-in help. Beautifully written story about love of family, forgiveness, and friendship. I highly recommend!

I just finished with A Peach of a Pair and it was FANTASTIC! Only one other time can I remember saying a book would make a fantastic movie and that was with The Help. Your book would be just amazing on the big screen. Loved it.

I loved it!It was the time period that hooked me. I love the 1940s It was also a different sort of love story and also a story about sisters. The complicated family ties that bind even through betrayal. I enjoyed this book and was sorry to see it end!

Very good. Makes me want to friend senior citizens and move to the south.

A Peach of a Pair is a captivating story of the strength of sisterly bonds, family, friendship, self-discovery, love and forgiveness.I am a huge fan of Southern Women's Fiction, and in A Peach of a Pair, author Kim Boykin weaves a thoroughly enjoyable tale that fulfilled all of my expectations. It is a delightful tale filled with plenty of Southern charm and sass that easily draws the reader into the engaging story of a young woman's quest to heal and forgive with the help of a pair of sassy eld [...]

First and foremost, I’d like to start out by saying that the synopsis was what initially drew me in. The cover helped convince me to read A Peach of a Pair. Normally, I don’t stray too far from the paranormal genre, which is my absolute favorite, but this story was a nice change.Nettie’s tale drew me right in. She’s an enjoyable character, well-educated, down to earth, family-oriented with a quiet, albeit, sincere personality. Her desire to complete college before getting married, puttin [...]

I just read a really good book, y'all — A Peach of a Pair by Kim Boykin. Let me tell you a little about it.A Peach of a Pair is a little different from my usual read. Instead of a romantic suspense or mystery, cozy or otherwise, A Peach of a Pair by Kim Boykin is Southern women's fiction. I wanted to read this book for review because most of A Peach of a Pair takes place in or near my home town of Columbia, South Carolina.A Peach of a Pair tells the story of Nettie Gilbert's journey, both lite [...]

So good. This book has a different depth than I am used to getting. The sisters. Enough said. When a story has one of those wise old snippy grandmas, I typically am more fascinated with them than the H/h, so this was right up my alley. Not that this story didn't have a great hero and heroine, because it did, but the hero was definitely a secondary character. This is a story about a woman who is crushed by two really selfish, immature people, and is healed through her education from two elderly s [...]

Nellie left Alabama in 1953 to go to Columbia College in South Carolina to study music and become a teacher. She left those she loved most: her mother, her sister and her childhood sweetheart Brooks. Brooks said he would wait until she graduated and then he would marry her. Nellie is crushed when she gets an invitation from her mother to a wedding. The wedding is between her sister and her fiancé. They are “having to” get married. After this betrayal, Nellie decides to leave school. She nee [...]

I loved this very sweet novel. This novel has a little of everything for everyone. A little mystery, secrets, that Southern hospitality that is world famous. As I was reading this book I found myself smiling often at the Southern charm in this book. I spent many summers in South Carolina & it made me remember all those happy moments. I found myself loving Nettie, I felt she was very well developed, very real and if I was around in the 50s we would have been friends. This book started off a l [...]

This one surprised me, was a little bored at the start. But slowly the relationships drew me in. I hated how Nettie was wronged, loved how she found her place with the Sisters, loved how with the trip they took she was able to see a different side to life and her situation. By the end of the trip Nettie was a much stronger person, one who knew her place in the world. The Sisters were interesting. Right from the start I loved Lurleen, loved how she let Emily have her way, even as she knew it was [...]

A top read of my summer. This book tells you the story of the strength of sisterhood and the forgiveness of betrayal. It takes place in the south during the early 1950's. Netti's sister has done the ultimate betrayal of marrying Netti's fiance. Netti leaves college and becomes the caretaker of spinster elderly sisters, Emily and Lurleen. Through the care of the sisters, Netti has learned forgiveness and new found love. Emily and Lurleen have their secrets from each other too.Loved the two elderl [...]

Such a sweet story!! It was the kind of book I didn't want to put down and couldn't wait to get back to. The emotions ramped up toward the end and kept me riveted as I slowed my pace to savor every last word before it was over. A couple hours after I'd turned the last page, I was thinking about the characters again and caught myself, realizing I'd already finished the book, and this made me suddenly so, so sad, knowing I'd never get to read more about these delightful people. The characters are [...]

There is something awesome about coming across a book where the characters just leap off the page. This novel is entertaining and engaging and the characters are written vividly. Lurleen and Emily are sisters entering the last stage of their lives with a lot of baggage to unload before they go. Add in the element of a young Southern Belle named Nettie who is discovering how much she has to offer the world and herself outside of her looks and you get a magical trio of characters! And that's befor [...]
