  • Lexi is not a fan of Christmas hoopla It s loud like an explosion, and it makes her insides hard like an ice cube Too bad a big, fat holiday party at school is breathing down her neck Now, to get out of it, Lexi has to get on the naughty list Only one problem Breaking rules gives her the feeling of barf.
    Emma Lesko
Emma Lesko grew up near Detroit, Michigan, where she ate dirt, taught her guinea pig to turn the basement lights on with his teeth, and read books in a garbage can Like all kids, Emma had some superpowers She had supersonic ears, super strong taste buds and a super smelling nose Sometimes her superpowers were spectacular, and sometimes they gave her a feeling of barf Though Emma has written a gazillion kids stories, Super Lexi is the first one she ever showed anybody.

Important Note: I won a copy of this children's chapter book from a giveaway on . Lexi is a second-grade girl who has lots of anxieties. To overcome them, Lexi sees her strengths as super powers. In this, the second book in the Super Lexi series, Lexi must learn to overcome the phobias she has with her school's annual Christmas party called the 'hoopla.' With loud music, chaotic singing, possible food allergies, and other assorted episodes of general merriment beyond her control; the thought of [...]

Lexi is not a fan of Christmas. The thought of Christmas and the hoopla that goes with it gives her the feeling of barf.More to the point, the hoopla, and the “squealy kids”, associated with her school’s Present Partner Party gives Lexi the feeling of barf.Motivated by her feelings of barf, Lexi is determined to get her name on Santa’s “Naughty” list so she won’t have to attend the party. That way she’ll avoid the hoopla that makes her belly ache. However, Lexi finds out that it i [...]

I was thrilled to receive Super Lexi is Not a Fan of Christmas in the giveaway! My almost 7 year old daughter laughed hysterically when reading the title, "Mum, how can anyone not like Christmas?!" She loves it of course, and also loves reading. We really enjoyed reading this tale together. I loved the flash backs to my own school days toon how gorgeous. I love how spirited and independent Lexie is, what a great role model for our kids. It's a turbulent time around 6, 7, 8 and i think a love of [...]

I love Super Lexi, so I was excited for her second book and it didn't disappoint. Above all, this book is fun, sweet and cozy and carries that delightful thrill of elementary school, the holidays, friendship and family. Lexi is a wonderful protagonist for teaching empathy. I would recommend this book to adults (especially teachers) as well as kids because it really helps to remember that not all kids like parties and surprises and hoopla. These books are a great reminder to listen and honor the [...]

I received this book for free from First Reads in exchange for an honest reviewI read this book to my 5-year-old daughter who is just learning how to read herself. When she first saw this book, she got very excited and kept it in a "safe place" for when it was time to read. In her words, "She has yellow, curly hair like me! This book is about me!" Other then the disappointment she had when she found out the book wasn't about her, she thoroughly enjoyed this book. Which says a lot since she hasn [...]

I was lucky enough to win this book through but this review has not been affected by that in any wayWe enjoyed this book, it made a change to see a childs book that wasnt all fun and games and showed that it is ok to have negative feelings, even towards something positive. It is a good starting point for talking about feelings and empathy.I had not heard of this set of books before, but now that we have read one and found out that there are others we will be purchasing them.I think that this wo [...]

Lexi does not like noise, commotions, and parties. She’s trying very hard to get out of one school party, but that means she would have to act bad to be put on the naughty list. The idea of partying makes her want to barf, but doing bad things and feeling guilty about them also makes her ill. The emotional gamut here is wonderful. This book provides a great lesson that we’re all different and for some, parties are not their thing. We all have to be respected for our differences and personali [...]

This series featuring Lexi by Emma Lesko is an important addition to our school and classroom libraries. Lexi reminds us that kids are unique, we can support them with flexibility and that we all have something to teach each other. I like how this story gives kids permission to find the holiday "hoopla" varying degrees of overwhelming! Realistic school setting and nice job with friendship dynamics.

We received this as a Good Reads First Read book giveaway; thank you for allowing us to receive it. It is a chapter book so for older children so I read it myself since my granddaughter is only almost 4. I did enjoy this book and think children not only would enjoy reading about Lexi but could relate to her too. As I think all children at one time or another have had issues at Christmas such as what Lexi is going through

I won this in a Good Reads giveaway! I read it to my little niece who is 5 years old and she loved it. As a teacher, I will also be reading it to my students. It's a great story to help children understand that everyone is different, has different likes and dislikes and that our differences make us special.

Super Lexi is Not a Fan of Christmas is a different kind of Christmas story. Lexi does not like hoopla and that's what the class Christmas party is for her. Lexi tries to sabotage the party by being put on the Naughty List. Easier said than done. She ends up hurting her class and her best friend before she learns her lesson and makes amends.I won my copy from First Reads.

The book was won on giveaway. This is a delightful and amazing story that absorbs the reader into a magical and glorious world of its own. I think that Lexi is a magical character full of superpowers and is very funny especially when she finds out new superpowers. - This book was read and reviewed by my daughter.

What a great book that can be read in one sitting with no problem. It's a holiday book that both my daughters really enjoyed also. Great job Emma! I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving my win either to a friend or library to enjoy.
