If you ever wanted to know what became of The Bridge's Henry and Christa(and how could you not?) this is the story for you. If you were curious about Christa's troubled sister Tanya, this is a must-read. If you want another beautifully-written story from Rebecca Rogers-Maher that will completely consume you, you will want to read Tanya. In The Bridge, Rebecca Rogers-Maher created an insightful, painful, and enlightening look at depression and suicide. In Tanya, we have one lead who is a recoveri [...]

Last year I read The Bridge by Rebecca Rogers Maher, a very powerful novella about two people who meet when they are on a bridge ready to commit suicide. As you can probably guess, these two end up leaving this bridge and falling in love. In those short pages, Maher really excelled at giving us a very dark, emotional love story.Tanya takes place during the wedding of Henry and Christa from The Bridge. Tanya is Christa’s sister – a recovering alcoholic who comes into town late one night for t [...]

This joint review was originally published at The Book PushersMeka: I discovered Rebecca Rogers Maher’s writings when I reviewed The Bridge. After giving it high praise and feeling as though the book had trounced all over my emotions, I could hardly wait to get my hands on Tanya. I went in to this story with very high expectations. Perhaps that was unfair of me, but I can’t always help the way that I feel. I wanted this story to wow me, to emotionally lay me open the way that The Bridge did. [...]

My Review:Tanya is a book that was everything I hoped for and not at all what I expected. After reading Hurricane Lily and The Bridge, the latter of the two remains one of my favorite love stories, I have become a fan of Rogers Maher. I had no idea that all these books were connected until a dear friend brought it to my attention. Tanya was a character I learned about while reading The Bridge. The story of her sister Christa was macabre and beautiful in her attempt to kill herself but one day sh [...]

I think it’s fairly easy to give a character a disorder/illness to explain their actions and create drama, whether it be depression, substance abuse, PTSD etc. I think it’s much harder to pay the subject matter the proper respect and weave a believable romance into the mix. This is a pet peeve of mine and Rebecca Rogers Maher never lets me down.In Tanya, Rogers Maher, crafts a gorgeous, unflinching story of recovery, guilt and redemption that never takes the easy way out but also never drown [...]

Maher has a knack for writing highly damaged characters and yet somehow making me believe in their happy ending. She should probably see about bottling this talent, she'd be a millionaire within minutes.Tanya is a continuation of the author's earlier novella, The Bridge. It does stand alone fairly well, but the past romantic couple is directly tied to this story, featuring the past heroine's sister and the past hero's brother. For that reason I felt like they sometimes overshadowed this new roma [...]

VERY good! I really loved the writing too so I'll b one-clicking all of the author's books. Dark and gritty, just how I like my books (except the speech at the end. Blah. I can never read/watch those.). I would love to read a full length novel from Maher.

Seemed more like a long epilogue than its own story.

Not a breezy, easy, light-hearted read. A bit dark, twisted and angsty. But its original and interesting.

4.5 stars. Great read, short and sweet. I somehow managed not to realize until I started it that it connected to Hurricane Lily, The Bridge, and Fault Lines. It was fun to revisit all those couples.
