Fern Michaels isn t a person I m not sure she s an entity either since an entity is something with separate existence Fern Michaels is what I DO Me, Mary Ruth Kuczkir Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was a dinky little thing weighing in at four and a half pounds However, I answer to Fern since people are comfortable with a name they can pronounce. As they say, the past is prologue I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job Those were his exact words I didn t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like The library was a magical place for me It still is to this day Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book For some reason that didn t intimidate me As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does Guess what, I don t have that husband any Guess what else I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.Moving right along here Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time It was a breeze The kids were all on their own at that point The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate This ghost has been documented by previous owners Mary Margaret as we call her, is a friendly She is also mischievous It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn t like my coffee cups They would slide off the table or counter or else they d break in the dishwasher I bought red checkered ones All are intact as of this writing She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9 10 in the a.m at least once a week When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day She doesn t spook the dogs I always know when she s around because the five of them line up and look like they re at a tennis match As of this writing we re co habiting nicely. Most writers love what they do and I m no exception I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper I love breathing life into my characters I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that s what I had to do to get to this point in time It s another way of saying it doesn t matter where you ve been, what matters is where you re going and how you get there The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it.I ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years I hope I can continue for another 37 years It wasn t easy during some of those years As I said, I had to persevere My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot She said when God is good to you, you have to give back For a while I didn t know how to do that When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels Foundation READ FERN MICHAELS FULL BIOGRAPHY HERE fernmichaels biography

I was really surprised at how gripping this mass-market thriller/mystery was. Dark, brutal and at times comical, this is definitely one worth having a look at.

I felt like this book was a made for T.V. movie. It is a simple read with not much depth or originality. The book is about 7 women who form a vigilante group called "The Sisterhood". The book tries to establish the fact that women can do basically anything men can do. I feel the book fails to accomplish this, because every move and decision the ladies make is controlled by some guy named Charles. Basically, the women are a bunch of puppets on a string for the male dominant character.

The seventh book in a series about the Sisterhood, seven strong women vigilantes. After running away, they return to the States to dispense justice on the FBI assistant director who nearly caught them. Also to protect a few friends, a judge and their lawyer. Will they get caught finally or succeed? Despite having not read all of the others in the series, this one had less of the oomph of the other ones. It almost seems like an after-thought and a set-up for another. Not my favorite of Fern Micha [...]

OK, by now, I'm just sick of the series. I really liked it for awhile - I loved the idea of making up for horrible wrongs, but by now it's so repetitive I can't even care anymore. The newest sister Annie drives me up a wall. The "punishments" for the bad guys are stupid. I'm over the group of women and their shenanigans.

This was a nice cozy "fluff" book.

This was one of those life is too short books. The whole premise of this book-which is, unbelievably, the 8th in this series, is that a group of vigilante woman are getting revenge on men who have done them wrong. The writing is stilted, the characters border on the ridiculous (I mean, come on, a former English secret service guy who doesn't have anything better to do than run a 'war room' for a bunch of revenge seeking women)?

Hide and Seek (fern Michaels)I did enjoy this book. There are a lot of characters, I had a bit of a hard time remembering who was who. I think i would like to read her previous books in this series. I am sure I would enjoy them

    Bookish Enchantment
This book in the series takes the Sisterhood to a completely new level. No more are they just small time vigilantes. Good amount of suspense in this installment.

The "Sisterhood Series" sort of ended after book 7 - since all of the original team's revenges had completed. This is now both a continuation and a new series - as Fern Michaels explains in the intro that she is responding to reader requests for more. The team has now expanded not only in members but in scope. The plot continues to be the main attraction of these books. Character development and internal story line consistency are still weak. However, it was refreshing to see less violence in th [...]

Can't really put my finger on it, didn't do much for me and I will most likely not read the series. Started it, then put it up and read a few other books, then finished it, thinking it might improve

A fun read. The Sisterhood is gathering quite a crew of backups. I would have like more closure. What exactly happened to Riley after leaving the hospital? The plot is a little thin in this one, but I want to read the whole series. The characters are such fun.

I love this series! Each book is an easy read that is packed full of adventure. I liked the addition of new members to the group. I'm curious to see the part that each will play in the next few books.

    Very Good

very concise but adds to group, and makes things clearer, having read the latest book before most of the older ones

Read the LP version since that's what the library had. IT really went fast with such large print. :)

Cannot get interested in characters or plot.

A lesson hard-learned - Don't mess with the Sisterhood! But the bigger question is, how will the very important love relationships maintain and the future of these young women? I know they will need to keep working but life on the mountaintop in Spain will not stay idyllic for very long. I must read more.

    Ruth Mindick
Another fast paced exciting Sisterhood adventure. Can't wait to start the next book to see what happens next! Not sure I like the addition of some many new members all at once but have to read on to see how it all plays out.

I really loved the revenge in this chapter of The Sisterhood.

When I first read the information on this book and saw what Mitch planned on doing, I thought, "Stupid man!". As it turned out he's not only stupid in deciding to do this but also cruel, power hungry and generally disliked. A bully, in short. A clever bully in the ways that he has been covering his tracks. He has been saving up files of information on people, some of which are false ones and that would ruin many lives. He admired J. Edgar Hoover, so that should give you a hint or two. It wouldn' [...]

Overall, "Hide and Seek" was and okay story. Not having read the previous "Sisterhood" books, I did understand the need to bring new readers up to speed with this next stage of the series; however, the first half of the book was fairly boring. "Hide and See" had the feeling of a pilot for a new television show. As with most pilots, they tend to be the weakest episode of the series because they need to focus mainly on setting things up with the characters, and as a consequence, give less attentio [...]

This is poetic justice at it's finest. Fern Michaels hits the nail on the head with this incredible novel of the Sisterhood. The last mission the Sisters took on almost landed them in jail and now they are hiding out as fugitives. But they cannot stay in hiding forever as their expertise is called on to help out their friends. Mitch Riley is the Assistant Director of the FBI and is intending to frame "Nellie" Easter who is the judge who helped the Sisters with their last mission to keep them out [...]

This was billed as the first in the Rules of the Game series, but in reality it was around the eighth in The Sisterhood series. I went back and read the first three so I could get an idea of what was going on with the characters. This one wasn't quite as cheesy as the first few I read, which I was happy to learn. It was okay but I'm tired of the series; there aren't many new twists. The one thing that really bothered me is that these are supposed to be strong, smart women - yet they take their o [...]

I was a little disappointed that my library had this lsited as the first book in the Sisterhood series so I started with this book and right away I could tell that it definitely was not the first book in the series. I was interested enough to keep reading the book but at the same time I just felt confused the entire time becuase I really wasn't sure what the purpose of the Sisterhood was or how they really got started. A few hints were given throughout the book but I just felt lost all the way t [...]

YippeeThank you for writing such a addictive series full of characters I now consider my friends. I am so grateful that you didn't put the sisterhood series on the shelf after 4 books but continued their saga! I first read the one about the evil rich man on the island. When I realized it was a series I started with book one so I could get on at the beginning and watch as people were taken away and added to this wonderful group of characters. I look forward to reading this series until I have rea [...]
