Rocked my socks right off. I'd actually give it 4½♥'s, but fudged up to 5 for GR. I received an ARC from A.M. Hargrove in exchange for a honest review. This book was SO great it reminded me of the Donnie and Marie Osmond song "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock N Roll" only, instead substitute Sci-fi and Dystopian (and a healthy dose of Paranormal.) I really love how this book mashes up so many genres together into this little harmonious, entertaining package. Those that have shied away f [...]

Dark Waltz is the first book in a spinoff of A.M. Hargrove's The Guardians of Vesturon series. This book takes the characters from the YA series and brings them into a whole new light in this adult series, set a few years in the future. Don't worry…if you have not read The Guardians of Vesturon books, you do not absolutely need to in order to understand Dark Waltz. However, you will get a lot of background understanding by reading those books first. That all being said, one of the reasons I lov [...]

Dark Waltz is an ADULT romance based on the character Jurek, who was initially introduced in the Guardians of Vesturon Series. He is a complex character that has been burdened by tragedy and is troubled by a horrific act he committed that has weighed heavily on his conscience for years. Everything he does has an ulterior motiveat is until he meets Liasare. I hope you enjoy the ride!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. After glancing at some of the other reviews for this book it looks like my opinion is in the minority. It may have something to do with the fact that this is apparently a continuation of a YA series that I hadn't read. But then again maybe this just wasn't a read for me. There was so much I didn't like about this one it was hard for me to even give it two stars. It was difficult for me to even place it in a specific genre, it was all ov [...]

Dark Waltz, a Praestani Novel (#1) by A.M. HargroveDark Waltz is an adult science fiction novel and is the spinoff of the authors Guardians of Vesturon Series (YA Genre). Since I am a huge fan of A.M. Hargrove I was really excited about reading this book to see how she crossed over to the adult genre. I have to say her writing of course is fantastic, character are developed well that you immediately have an interested in what is going on and I have to say I sort of have a crush on Jurek, plus in [...]

WOW what a book. I have loved reading A.M. Hargrove's books. This is her 1st book into the adult genre which I found really intriguing and was surprised at her insight. The characters carry on from her Guardians of Vesturon series. I loved the way she has portrayed Jurek and Lissare Davidson (January's sister). How these 2 come together with their fierce natures.Keep them coming Annie and can't wait til the next installment comes out in both series x

To start with I am incredibly grateful to Hargrove for sharing her book with me! I've been a big fan of her work ever since I signed up to read Survival about a year ago. I've been absorbing her books ever since. So when Dark Waltz came out, which is a spin off of sorts for the Guardians of Vesturon Series, I was so incredibly excited! A new series by Hargrove, involving characters I already know and love? Yes Please! I was also pretty excited because this one was to be adult themed. If you've r [...]

Okay I have to say this because I am going to use some language that is not suitable for anyone under 18 years old. *** This is an adult and mature book***HOLY SHIT THIS BOOK IS AMAZING SO SO AMAZING! ~Team Jurek all the way!I have never ever read an alien book that was so HOT and COLD! Liasare is a woman on a mission. Her brother is missing and she is determined to do whatever she needs to to find him. For three months she has not heard from her brother and she will do anything to find him. She [...]

I don't normally write reviews, but I always make an exception for A.M. I've been lucky enough to meet some dear, dear friends here on and she is one of them! Having heard about this book as A.M. wrote it, I knew it was going to be hot. Man did it exceed all expectations. The hot parts were scorching! The tension was insane between the two main characters and when we finally got what we had been waiting for it was even better than I imagined. What surprised me the most about this novel were th [...]

This book had a little of it all, and I really enjoyed it. It definitely is part of a series. In fact, I think there must be a series set before this one because of some mentions of past events. There is a loose end that is not tied up in a pretty bow, but it isn't necessary to know the outcome of that to enjoy the book.I didn't really like all the bickering between the two MC's. Sometimes it was funny, but most of the time it was really hurtful. In fact, I would almost say abusive. It did stop, [...]

This is the first book I have read by A.M. Hargrove and I am now officially a big fan. I loved Dark Waltz. I have always been a fan of fantasy and science fiction, and Dark Waltz has both with some super hot romance, which makes this one great read. Set in a futuristic world, Sarah, who with the help of her Vesturon friend Shondra, changes her identity in order to go back to Earth, to find her brother Tommy, who has disappeared. Earth as she knew it no longer exists, and in the 18 years since sh [...]

4.5 stars. I didn't know what to expect from Dark Waltz. I'd never read any of Ms. Hargrove's Guardian's of Vesturon series, but I had heard good things about her writing, so when Candace asked if we wanted in on the blog tour I jumped at the chance to see what it was all about. I will say I was a bit apprehensive when I read the synopsis I say I like Scifi- it's a broad category, but really I love my fantasy and paranormal romance, and I wasn't sure I could get into this alien world. Pushing my [...]

What do I know? I know I’m lovin this series! It’s a waltz that takes you spinning through space before taking that final dip.As I’ve already given you a description and an awesome excerpt, my review is going to be an emtotional one, more about how the story made me feel and how I connected with the characters. So, I’ll get started:)The first thing that captured my attention was this story is about returning to Earth from another planet, not about venturing into space. The Earth of today [...]

I am just going to go ahead and spit out the things I did not like about this book. I hated, hated, and hated Jurek. He is annoying, mean, spiteful, arrogant, abusive, and an absolute man whore. I hated how one minute he would have Liasare pinned up against the wall by the throat threatening her and in the next breathe he would vow never to hurt her. Not to never hurt her againbut to never hurt her. Um, wait a minute? Didn't you just have her pinned against the wall, cutting off her oxygen to th [...]

Written in the third person perspective, Dark Waltz is a very adult rated read and you know I do like those :)But I'm not a fan of the third person voice in books. It makes it very impersonal and you don't really get to bond with the characters. In this book, there where many characters and each had their own thoughts and inner-voice so it made it a little confusing as to who was 'talking' or rather 'thinking' you have to keep up with everything and you couldn't get distracted for even a moment, [...]

The Guardians of Vesturon have grown up! Oh, yes!!! This spinoff of A. M. Hargrove's New Adult/YA series is Fantastic! So often, we find spinoffs fall flat, they just don't have that spark the original series had, not a problem here! I think heading several years into the future was a brilliant idea! I do suggest reading The Guardians of Vesturon Series, first, just to 'know' the characters and their stories! You'll be glad you did, trust me! In Dark Waltz, we are several years into a future on [...]

I am totally a sci-fi fan Star Wars geek here Yep!!!So reading Dark Waltz really brought out some giddiness in me with the paranormal and sci-fi factors intertwined. From page 1, I was drawn in The world built in this book is fascinating and intriguinge story we are journeying on is creative and unique AND To top it off Brilliantly developed charactersSo, as I wind my way through each page getting know Liasare----our high strung, stubborn, heart of gold heroine---I am totally blown away with the [...]

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning. My Thoughts:When A.M. Hargrove approached me with the opportunity to read a book that was about Jurek from Determinant, how could I say no? I loved Jurek. He was freaking awesome and so sexy. Not only that, but this book takes place years in the future from that point in Determinant in a now dystopian society. Jurek + dystopia = heck yes.I thought Liasare was the best. Liasare is actually January’s sister, Sarah, from Determinant [...]

This novel was something new, refreshing and different from the usual PNR story. I'm not use to read Sci-Fi PNR but when I saw the cover and read the blurb I couldn't ASK for this book (as a part of this blog tour) it was my chance to read and claim this one.Liasare was a great character, sometime a little childish, but if you read this book, you will soon understand the background and also understand Liasare's behaviour.Overall, we are in 2030 and the Earth has been taken and overpowered by an [...]

Okay, I didn't hate the book but I didnt love it either. I thought the storyline was really good as in the sense of where I see that the Author is heading. It's very unique in the story as I've never read anything like it. What I hated was the back and forth of the two leads which had me so annoyed at moments I wanted to just stop reading. Jurek, physically hurting her and always shouting at her in the beginning through pretty much 70% of the book was on my last nerve and her acting tough and the [...]

This is the first book in a spin-off series from another series this author has written (of which I haven't read at time of reading this book). The fact that I hadn't read the other series didn't effect my reading of this book too much. There were some things that I felt we didn't know enough about and I found the beginning of this book a bit confusing but I think those problems would have been solved if I had read the other series first. I don't think it is necessary to read the other series be [...]

The heroine is a whiny, self-centred brat. She was extremely frustrating to read about and her character annoyed me 95% of the time. She is one of the worst heroines I have ever read about. The hero I was a bit 50/50 about because sometimes he was all protective and hot while other times he was an asshole. The storyline held promise but fell flat numerous times. There were some parts that I found interesting but overall I hated it.

So I had a few issues with this book. At times I really liked it. I liked the plot and the characters, but I did not like the interaction of the characters Most of all, I could not get past the abusive relationship between Jurek and Lasaire (also her name bugged me "Sarah died so I'm now this person" just odd). I had to give up at 85%, which I am honestly surprised I made it that far.

When I started reading this book I wasn't sure if I will like it but soon it took a turn and I was hooked and in love with Lisare and Jurek. Their love is beyond what you would expect from a regular love story. Annie has a way of making her heroins sassy and this one is no doubt different. Looking forward to reading more books in this series.
