Powerful story - but very, very funny (I still have the term 'banana boobs' in my head hahaha!). Such an interesting perspective from the author - who would know, since he's an Arts Lawyer

The Great Peace is what 1984 would look like if Big Brother was a talentless art hack. In this case, Big Brother is Polo Younger, a peculiar, mask-wearing, sweatpants-clad Napoleon who swore vengeance after being rejected from numerous art schools. Since he took over the City Arts Commission, he’s decided to have art production strictly regulated. He’s also had all the classical art museum destroyed. Many despise him, many struggle against him, but only Rufus Wiggin, his high school nemesis, [...]

When I started to read The Great Peace I'll admit I really wasn't sure what to expect. The first couple of chapters kept me guessing as I started the book, but the more I read the more I was pulled into the story. Rufus Wiggin is a man whose father made enough money that he was comfortably distant from the reality of life. Though when Polo Younger starts to build his power Rufus sees his frivolous lifestyle diminish. His legendary parties begin to fall to the wayside and eventually he runs out o [...]

An intriguing read! Kittleman's writing style leaves nothing to the imagination, it is very detailed, and well written. There is a wide range of topics in this book, but with a definite unique artistic flair! If you enjoy Dystopian reads this is definitely the book for you!! A great read with some "real life" topics that can make you laugh!! Disclosure: I received a copy of the book for review purposes only through JKSCommunications Book Tours. I was not compensated to write a positive or favora [...]

Polo Younger has the worst taste in art and is rejected from numerous art schools, so it, is by the usual government bureaucracy that he is made head of the City Arts Commission. As he gains more power, his gang of henchmen roam the streets preventing unwanted art from being displayed. As time goes on, rich kids, Rufus Wiggin starts to lose his amusing pastimes, and his legendary parties stop because of Polo's new laws. This leads to civil [artist] war in the city that only Rufus can bring to a [...]

Rufus Wiggin is a spoiled young man who lives off of his father's inheritance. His life is more or less untouched by the dictatorial rule of an old classmate of his, Polo, who stifles the creativity and freedom of the people. However, a botched suicide attempt on Rufus' part changes his life forever. Could he be the key to overthrowing the lunatic in charge? An unusual journey indeed! This must be what it was like to read the first Chuck Palahniuk book My head was swirling with a weird sense of distrust at what I was reading and intense desire to read more.
