In 1982, Annie Hollerman had a great job at a North Carolina newspaper and, at 26, showed great promise as a journalist. With fiery red hair, she was not a great beauty but had enough looks and brains to make a difference. Until one horrible mistake changed everything.Twenty years later, Annie runs a literary agency in Washington DC. Two years divorced, Annie's long-time friend wants to fix her up with Jack DePaul, editor at the Baltimore Star-News. Jack is also divorced and has a grown son. He [...]

I really liked this book and gulped it down in a day, even though I was temporarily distracted by the author's use of "sunk" as the past tense of "sink" (I blame "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" for this widespread misuse, but that's no excuse for the editor). Oh, and he misspelled Georgia O'Keeffe's last name, and nobody caught it. But I liked the book because it was about a newspaper reporter who was disgraced.

To be honest, this novel is sweet in the idea of Jack "giving new memories" to Annie. But that's it. Nothing really new. I expect this to be a kind of book that will be turn into a Hallmark movie. Sweet but I don't really care for the characters. Which means that it's good to spend 2 lazy hours of my time, when I have nothing else to do, but not the one I will recommend to anyone else.

John Jaffe has drawn characters that cause the reader to care early on in the novel what happens to the characters. His prose carries the reader effortlessly through the characters' journey from the past to the present.

You absolutely must be a hopeless romantic to enjoy this book! I savored every chapter.

With all the pretentious trappings of a first-time novelist, Johh Jaffe fools no one with Thief of Words; which, at it's best, is nothing more than chick porn crapped out with an artistic flourish.

Light and fluffy. This book is definately a chick read. Pretty straight forward. Characters are likable enough but the story was sort of a bore.
