I was very excited to get this book as the next installment of a series, however this one fell flat. It wasn't a bad story, by any means, but I had higher expectations after the build up of the previous novel. The fine balance between the mystery of the missing jewels and adults reconnecting after a childhood friendship just wasn't there. I wanted more memories, more profound revelations about the mystery than I got. I applaud London for not having the usual setting for the characters to profess [...]

IN ENGIt's actually a 3,75This book gave me mixed feelings. I was in dispair to find out if I'm still able to start and finish a book, so I bought it out of impulse at the airport. The beginning was slow and I didn't know what to expect. I've read so many similar books But then it got better. The characters became deeper and they kept their humanity. You've read the synopsis: Lily testified that she'd seen Tobin's father leaving the manor in the same night that the precious jewels disappeared. S [...]

Another great read from Julia London, the second book in the Secrets of Hadley Green series does not disappoint. "The Revenge of Lord Eberlin" picks up shortly after Miss Lily Boudine has returned from Europe to settle into her newly inherited title of Lady Ashwood. She finds a scandal in the making as her cousin, Kiera, has pretended to be Lily in an effort to try saving the broken estate. The estate is sinking fast, with tenants leaving for greener pastures and the money running out quickly. " [...]

While only a child, Lily Boudine testified that she saw Tobin Scott’s father, the wood carver, galloping away from the Ashwood estate. At about the same time, the Ashwood jewels also disappeared and the people of Hadley Green made the obvious connection. Tobin’s father was hanged as a thief and his family reviled. Death claimed the lives of some of his family and cast Tobin’s sister, Charity, into a compromising situation. Tobin struggled to survive, finally finding his way to riches on th [...]

This really wasn't a BAD book. It just wasn't to my taste. The story focused on two characters, Lily and Tobin. Lily and Tobin were childhood playmates until Tobin's father is hung for stealing the Ashwood family jewels. The two children go their separate ways and meet up again as adults- Lily, now as Lady Ashwood, and Tobin, now as Lord Eberlin- and a love story is born. Obviously, the two hate each other initially, as it was Lady Ashwood's word that sent Lord Eberlin's father to the gallows, a [...]

Tobin's father was hanged for a crime he didn't commit -- the theft of some precious jewels -- largely based on the testimony of eight-year-old Lily, who saw the man riding away from the estate that fateful night. Fifteen years later, Tobin has returned as a wealthy and titled man with a grudge. I liked the setup for this book. There was real tension between these two, because Tobin is understandably angry, and Lily is in real trouble as a result. Gradually, he starts to see how an 8-year-old mi [...]

Julia London's new book "The Revenge of Lord Eberlin" is totally awesome! I loved the storyline of an angry, vengeful man who will stop at nothing to destroy the lives of anyone who gets in his way. Tobin Scot is a man on a mission who sets out to get his due, even if his target is the lovely and desirable Lily Boudine. Tobin feels that revenge is the only way to go. You will feel Tobin's pain in loosing his family and the panic that overwhelms him at times. You will see a woman who feels his pa [...]

A very touching story. Lord Eberlin, aka Tobin Scott, is out for revenge against Lily Boudine, now Countess of Ashwood. When she was 8 years old, her testimony sent his father to the gallows. He has spent the last 15 years building his wealth and plotting revenge.Of course, his hardened heart is thawed by her. They fall in love but it isn't easy in coming. They fight it every stop of the way which makes it even sweeter in the end. This is book 2 of 3 and, once again, Julia London has created comp [...]

This was the first book I've read by Julia. It was slow at first and I put it down for a few days but then I came back and it really was a pleasant read. I loved the feisty Lily and how she challenged Tobin at every turn. I didn't understand why he was putting himself through all this pain and misery when clearly he always loved her. Anyway I hated how the story just ended abruptly but I'm looking forward to the story of the true heir of Ashwood. I also need to read the previous books in this se [...]

I enjoyed this fast-paced and unexpected story involving one-upmanship and seduction. Tension builds between Lily who recently inherited a title and a crumbling estate and Tobin who seeks revenge against her for the death of his father. He finds no shortage of creative ways to make her suffer and Lily rises to the challenge. London ratchets up the intensity by raising the stakes at every turn while Lily and Tobin each struggle to figure out what they desire most. Throw in a mystery involving mis [...]

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The thing that appealed to me was the evolution of the relationship. Tobin's feeling towards Lily were multi-layered. Once he got past some of the layers, he worried about his past effecting Lily, whereas Lily was already a piranha due to her cousin's actions in the first book. Lily's layers grew with the story due to her discovering the truth about her childhood memories. With each of these layers, we eventually saw the two of them form into a couple united again [...]

    Male character sucked

The book had a slow start but got better pretty soon. The instant attraction the H had for the h was a bit of a shame, but the ability of the author to convery feelings later on made up for that. The characters had depth and personality. Both were likeable even though the H is after revenge at first. There are some weaknesses in the story. For example the way the H is able to look past his need for revenge on the h. Rather quickly he sees her for who she really is without being blinded by his ang [...]

Solid with well-developed characters. Tobin can't wait to exact his revenge on Lily and thwarts her every move. In the end, Lily may just get him to change his mind about her and look upon her with different eyes. This is worth reading if you enjoy historical romances. I haven't picked one up in a while, so I'm changing up my routine.

It was okI've read many Julia London books and I wasn't very impressed with this one. I thought that it was too long and story dragged on I was very happy to finish it and don't really plan on reading the next only if I get from library.

Welcome to Hadley Green, populationd growing!Note: To romance authors (you know who you are), who in their spare time teach others to write and assign searches for "literary" sentences/paragraphs/phrases to be found in the works of Hemingway, Steinbeck, Dickens and Oprah picks - sometimes those literary sentences are in your own back yard."The cold wind stung his cheeks, his nose. That's what he wanted-he wanted to feel that cold seeping into him, freezing him, locking down all the impossible fe [...]

Having read the previous two books in this series, I was excited to return back to Hadley Glenn and the mystery of the missing necklace. We pick shortly where the last book leaves off and our introduction to Lily Boudine. I was a bit disappointed in Lily. She's a selfish creature whom steps into the mess she jointly made with her cousin, but unable to understand how her inability to take control over her own life led to this problem. She is a reactionary character who needs someone else to do som [...]

This second installment of the Hadley Green series was better than the first in some ways, although it didn't have the same amount of character growth as its predecessor. Lily and Tobin each had unstable childhoods, and each suffered trauma. Having actually witnessed his fathers execution, Tobin by far has seen more of life and has legitimate reasons to be bitter. He experiences the most growth of any character in this book, having to overcome his desire for revenge and see the events of 15 year [...]

Lord Eberlin's revenge unfolds wonderfully so that by the end you're left wanting more and more and more. I thought Tobin's story was touching and you wanted to give him a big old hug at the end.Once again, Julia London leaves you desperate to find out what crazy thing will happen next in Hadley Green. How does she do that? She's not a NYT bestselling author for nothing. The repercussions of Keira's actions in The Year of Living Scandalously have more or less been resolved and now Lily's defectio [...]
