I'm the author. If you like books by Palahniuk or Vonnegut, I think you'll like mine. This book has some high points. It's pretty funny. It's loaded with ideas that might make you stop and think. It really picks up steam in the second half. People seem to like the ending. But it has flaws too. The main character isn't that likable. One literary agent said "there's a lot of beautiful writing" and that the prose was "smooth and accomplished" but felt distanced from the narrative voice. So there you [...]

This book was an insult to Jimi Hendrix, who (to the best of my knowledge) was not a sniveling, self-centered tool. The one bit I could relate to:"There was a moment in my twenties when I realized I was too old to go to concerts anymore. A band that I'd discovered in college was playing at the House of Blues - an all ages show. I soon found out that all of their fans were 15 or 16.I worked my way up to the front of the stage, like I had always done before. It was easy to elbow my way past these a [...]

It started off pretty well. The main character is a douchebag but you can overlook that with the promise of a decent story. Then the author totally blows it in the end. I'm still not sure that I understand what the hell happened. I do, however, know that I did not like it. Won't be recommending this to anyone else and I probably won't read anything more this man might have out now or in the future.

I'm a big Chuck Palahniuk and Christopher Moore fan. The offbeat story and creatively hysterical writing kept me intrigued til the last minute. From the snarky fights the leading man shares with his wife, to his silly, slacker best friend I just wanted to know where this was heading. I enjoyed all the trips into another person's dreams, which weren't boring to hear, despite how one feels about only being interested in their own. I couldn't wait to see where the next lucid dream would end up.

    didn't care for the ending

Honestly I got about 40% of the way through and couldn't bring myself to finish it. It's bland and I'm glad I didn't pay anything for it.
