I am a writer, but I m here on to talk about books, as I ve been a passionate reader as long as I ve been a writer since early childhood.I m not going to rate books there are too many variables I d rather talk about the reading experience My reviews of my books are confined to the writing process.

First, can I just take a second to point out how cute Senrid looks on the cover? Liere too--but SenridSpeaking of Senrid, I absolutely loved him (no surprise there). Fleeing peace takes place about a week after Senrid (the book) ended. Senrid's been King for like a week--and promptly loses his throne after a new threat emerges. So Senrid (and a bunch of other kids with their own story lines that all tie up in the end) goes out to stop this new bad guy named Siamis who is working with Norsunder an [...]

There are three characters who walked out of dreams into the stories, and Senrid is one of them. This story ate seven weeks of my life in the spring of 1967, when I was almost sixteen. It started one night when I was babysitting, when I was thinking about the tremendous effect charisma has on crowds, and the next thing I knew it was seven weeks later, I'd been a zombie at school and home, and here was this novel.I never tried to publish it: it was too long for "juveniles" of that time, it was int [...]

If you can get past the obnoxious walking plot device of Kitty, the rest of the cast of characters are very well rounded and the plot gives action and tension but also allows the main cast to evolve. They actually learn or refine their morality and sense of responsibility plus the cost of actually succeeding with their goals. oddly interspersed with humor as they are all between 10 and 15.

This book is obviously set in the middle of major upheavals in Sartorias-deles roughly a decade before Crown Duel, but all over the world. And if you haven't read some of CJ's Notebooks (very different style if you have only read Crown Duel or the Inda series) and Senrid you will be confused.I had some problems with the huge number of characters who came freshly from their own adventures - that I hadn't read about yet - and were introduced to play a part in this arching plot only to be left behi [...]

This probably won't be one that I reread, but I will jump at any chance to hear these characters' stories. The character development for both Liere and Senrid was fantastic. Senrid in particular is a fun character to watch and follow, and having read A Stranger to Command, it was nice to see the beginning of the relationship he has with Liere. (view spoiler)[ I liked that so many times Senrid's expectations and understandings of the situation at hand were off. It felt very realistic. Norsunder i [...]

It feels like more than one kind of book, which I like usually; here the pacing and I had a bit of trouble. Then "been enough of a parent" nearly got me, and I realized that part of my pacing issue was from worrying about the kids more than being caught up in their perilous adventure.

I thought it would be fun to learn more about Senrid and Liere, but this wasnd of a mess. A million different threads, poorly done character development, and anti-climactic ending.

Made it 3/4 way through, realized I wasn't interested.
