If you read The Greek Seaman from the start until you click next page for the last time I think you’ll find the story compelling and interesting. The culture shock felt by the newlywed bride, Katy, who finds herself far from her native England, living on a cargo ship with her seaman husband Don is a good story in itself. Katy adapting to this all male environment with a crew of mixed nationality, most non-English speaking, is compelling. Whether Katy and Don will survive the criminal conspirac [...]

Like many others, I found my way to this book via the Twitter explosion and various review blogs. I downloaded the sample from Smashwords to judge for myself how good the writing was, and I can honestly say that I found it clumsy and amateurish. In the first few pages alone, we have: commas consistently omitted when a person's name is used in direct address; "grinned" and "smiled" used incorrectly as dialogue tags; lack of hyphenation where required; lack of apostrophes in possessives; lack of a [...]

I will not be touching this book with a ten foot pole. Heck, I'm not even going to read the description. Why? Because of the bad reviews partly, but also because I am offended by this author. booksandpals/20She deleted some of her comments, but the comments at the top were enough for me to know that I will never touch this author's work. If you don't want to click the link here are her comments on a two star review. Thanks, but no thanks.Jacqueline Howett saidYou obviously didn't read the second [...]

I was unable to get past the first few pages of this book. The writing is clunky and confusing. The author tends to put large dumps of dialog without telling who the heck is talking. There are info dumps that tell us chunks of information in the most boring way possible.Yet another self-published book that never should've seen the light of day. Ladies and gentlemen, this is why editors get a cut of the royalties - they're important.

Even the book's synopsis is filled with grammar errors.

Reason to Read_Just a random choice from my Kindle Free BooksFrom_Free Kindle BookDon, a merchant marine, marries, Katie, a ballet dancer from England. He takes a job on a ship that allows her to go with him. The owners of the ship are planning to sink the ship and take the insurance money and are smugglers. It seemed like a book written for college writing class. It didn't follow through. It ended without having an ending. All the time I was reading it, I kept thinking it would be wise to call i [...]

No thank you, because I refuse to be bullied into liking a book, have "good reviews" shoved into my comment section, or be accused of not having read the right copy of it, which would have made all the difference.

I wanted to like it. I thought it had a promising story. The spelling/grammar was too much for me to continue. I sincerely hope the author doesn't give up writing and continues to improve. All the best.
