    The book is interesting, though flawed.There are three narrative strands.1) Germany, 1520s, concerning knight Eberhardt von Stelzenberg, who miraculously survives the Knights War and the Peasants’ War; he is convinced there is truth in the Dark Heart Prophecy that will destroy Germany.2) Germany, 1941, concerning SS Major Otto Hofheim, whose heart is dark.     When I first began reading this novel I instantly thought I would dislike it, as on the first page you are instantly confronted with military jargon, making me think that the entire book would be based around such terminology and that I'd give up after chapter one.However, I persevered and am glad I did.     I was delighted to win this book as a first reads Give away.I liked this book very much I did not getting any real attachments to any of the charecters in the begining but they were all quite complex that did not however effect the flow of the story. The different time line all crossing in the end makes it meh together well.I would recomend this book to others in fact I will be passing my copy on to other members of my family as I know they will enjoy it too.

    I won this as part of a giveaway and really enjoyed it. It was a bit confusing at first because it tells a few different stories that are based at different times but at the end it all ties together so it made sense. I will admit that I did think that it would turn out differently, as I like to guess the endings sometimes, but I didnt see that ending coming, which was great, because I hate predictable books!

    this was my first win , interesting book, a good mix of good v evil. 3 characters each having a propensity for both , connected in their adventures for prophecies but separated by 3 separate timelines. a good adventure/politcal yarn, can recommend it!

    Generally I enjoyed the book which was easy enough to read & follow. I found the descriptions regarding weapons & military equipment unnecessarily detailed compared to the rest of the story which seemed to end as though there was a publishers deadline to meet!
